Nativity...

I got into a discussion last night at a party. It was about the nativity, or "Christmas Cresh" as some call it. My friend, whose party it was, had a little manger scene out on display and the baby Jesus was in his crib. Now, I'm not sure if this a Catholic thing or not but in my family, we always waited until Christmas morning to put baby Jesus in his crib. When I was a kid, The Three Wise Men, along with a few transformers, started somewhere on the opposite side of the house and then arrived January 6th or 5th or something. My G.I. Joe men also came to see the baby Jesus from time to time.

Idaho...

I took a trip to Idaho a few weeks back and I ate the biggest baked potato of my life while there. These are two drawings I did while it was raining outside. That is Christina reading a rag mag. And there is her old man asleep on the couch with his laptop.

gouache...

This is my first ever gouache painting. I did it this weekend. I've had a gouache set since high school but never opened it up to try it. Strange that the black paint tube was all dried up, I wonder where the receipt is....

The sun!....

I saw someone shielding them self from the sun in front of a car wash this morning on the way to work. He was acting as though the sun was going to turn him to dust. I thought he looked funny until i remembered the one and only time i visited the opthamologist after I was hit in the eye with a hockey ball. The doc dilated my pupils to see if i had a torn retina (which I didn't.) When I left, nobody told me I'd need to pick up a complimentary pair of plastic sunglasses from the receptionist's desk. When I went to leave, I realised I had no cash to pay the parking attendant. I looked out of the window and noticed a bank across the street. When i went outside all I saw was white. So I ran across the street like a vampire.

Emergency...?

Beach Drawings...

Got back from my week vacation at Bethany Beach yesterday. These two were watercolors of Tini. One from the beach and another of her perusing a wedding magazine. She thinks I should sculpt the cake topper.

We went to Screen on the Green last night on the mall in DC and watched The Thing From Another Planet. It was a nice night, and we packed some snacks.

Doctor Corrigan you crazy doc,
So tired from staying up around the clock,

but the Thing just roared and slapped your face.

Dr. Sketchy's part 2...

I went to another Dr. Sketchy's anti art lesson this weekend. It was held at the Palace of Wonders in NE DC. Its a cool little bar with an exibit of oddities. There was a contest to incorporate something from the exibit in the last pose. I liked the mummy, and so did the model, I won a free bar tab. Looks like im going to the next one.

Art In Heat...

I saw a post on drawn.com about a gallery showing in DC called The Art in Heat show. I checked it out and it was alot of fun. They also had an open model session with burlesque models called Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School. Here are a few of the drawings I did there.

Geeky....

Here's a pic of me trying to change my own oil. I've tried twice now and am still not strong enough to get the bolt off to drain the oil. Darned grease monkeys tightened it so that I have to come back and pay them to do it!

My Tiny Room....

This is my tiny room! When I pace, I walk in place. That little guy on the floor is murphy and hes always chewing on things like used kleenex that didnt make it in the trash can. Thats me animating.

I recently had the idea of buying a croquet set for my office. Once a week we walk down to the river and play a game during our lunch hour. Its tremendous fun!

Cowlick Camp....

We went camping this weekend and it was so much fun. The site ended up being on a cow pasture by the Shenandoah River. In the morning we woke up to sounds of cows mooing. There were about twenty or so calves that kept coming over and licking our cars. This is a pic of my pal Mumbles trying to make friends.

We shopped the outlets this weekend, and Teenser got a new Spring dress. She says light colors are in for Spring. She liked the dress but said I drew her nose too big. I think she's bananas.

Drama Queen (And I dont mean Miss America)

Miss America came to tour our office the other day. Looks to me like Mumbles over there is a little jealous of the attention I was getting.

Once More into the Fold...

Pleats. JT may be bringing sexy back but I'm bringing pleats back. There's a few guys in the office who have jumped on the pleat bandwagon so far. One of note is my pal Scoot over at Mumbles and Scraps. I've also been trying to bring boat shoes back for months but it doesn't seem to be catching on as well as planned. I was able to attend a Bill Plympton lecture the other day and was happy to see that he wears them. This isn't the first time I've tried to set a trend either. I singlehandedly brought back puca shells in the 7th grade. No lie!

Morning People

I got up and got ready for work in ten minutes this morning. That is no big deal though, I've been timed faster than that before. But this morning was different, forty five minutes disappeared for me, I woke up at 7:15, actually got up, got a sip of water and layed down for five minutes. For some reason the clock read 8:15 when i looked again though. I've decided that forty five minutes is owed me, so next week I will only be turning my clock forward 15 minutes for daylight savings time.

When Spongebob attacks...

I Have the Power.....

Valentines day came and went, lucky for me it snowed so mine and Tini's classes were cancelled and we went out for dinner at Alladin's in Shirlington. I ate a Feta pitza and Tini got a felafel the size of a deflated soccer ball. This is the card that I made for her, I guess it would require an explanation. The comedian Paton Oswalt once joked about how a man doesnt get anything when he gets engaged. His fiancee gets an expensive ring, he should get something too. So he said the woman should be required to forge a gigantic battle axe for the man to carry around. I told Tini about this and for Valentines day she gave me a ceremonial engagement dagger from Yemen called a jambiya. If only i could attach it to my belt and carry it with me everywhere.
